What is the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL Rating) of your cabins?
We have deliberately built our cabins to BAL19 rating specifications. This includes thickened glass and aluminum screens on all doors and windows, as well as a full colorbond exterior.
What is the Cyclone rating of your cabins?
We have engineered our Cabins to be suitable for C3 level cyclones.
Can we get our Cabin council approved?
We have worked closely with our Draftsman, Engineers, and a Private certification company to ensure that we are ticking as many boxes as possible, so that you are able to obtain council approval for your cabin once relocated to your property.
All Agnes Coast Cabin Co cabins come with the following:
- Form 15 Frame engineering
- Form 16 Frame inspection
- Form 43 Waterproofing
- Form 12 Smoke Alarms & Energy Lighting
- Form 12 Glazing for manufacturer of windows, doors, showerscreens
- Form 43 Glazing for installation of windows, doors, showerscreens
- Form 43 Insulation installation
- Form 43 Frame fabrication
We have had our designs signed off by a Private Certifier to ensure that they meet the new ‘Accessible Housing Regulations’ that were instated from 1/10/23. These include the ‘No-step’ feature, as well as wider doorways and a larger cleared area around all toilets.
Please note that all Development Applications (DA’s) are site specific and are dependent on the local council within your Local Government Area (LGA).
It is very important that you do your own research on the requirements and compliance by-laws within your LGA prior to finalizing your order with Agnes Coast Cabin Co, so that we can build it according to your individual needs.
What are some of the factors and expenses I need to be aware of once the cabin is on my property?
Building a cabin and taking it to your property is a huge step however it is just the first part of the process. In order to obtain council certification on your land, items from the following list (which is not exhaustive) may be applicable, at the land owner’s expense:
- Transport to your property
- Stumping, foundations, piers, or a concrete slab
- Tie downs
- Plumbing into services if available
- Septic system if off-grid
- Grey water disposal if off-grid
- Connection to mains power OR an off-grid power system
- Professional fees for Town Planner, Engineer, Private Certifier, council application fees, Soil testing etc.
- Parking and access ramps where necessary
- Access to water & a water pump if off-grid
- Bushfire assessments
- Clearing of land around the proposed cabin site
What kind of power requirements do I need?
We install an external 15 amp inlet on our cabins so they are easily connected to mains power via a 15 amp extension cord. Similar to a caravan or motorhome.
You will require a mains power connection, or a solar system/generator that is capable of powering the appliances within your cabin.
